Hi Ann,

Thanks for trusting me with this project. I enjoyed making it and I think it turned out very nicely. It will serve you well in the Northwoods.

It is a hand forged W2 blade with a clay hamon and jimping on the spine. The blade is flat ground with a convex edge. The cutting edge is at RC 61. The copper guard is soldered to the blade and the copper pommel has a 1978 Canadian penny as a washer on the peened tang. The handle is birchbark you sent from your cabin in Canada with red and white spacers at each end. The sheath is dyed to match and finished with beeswax.

The blade is 3.75 inches on the cutting edge and the overall length is 8 inches. Weight is 4.8 oz.

W2 is a non stainless high carbon steel, so dry after use and oil it occasionally. The handle is finished with linseed oil and it may be reapplied if needed. The blade should be stropped regularly to maintain the edge. I have included one in the box.

I will begin working on the filet knife soon so you can have a nice set.

Thanks very much!

Cameron
