This is a handsome and solid hidden tang trailing point blade. Hand forged from W2, it has a clay hamon showing the differential hardening achieved through the application of clay. The cutting edge is 4.5 inches for a perfect balance of power and control and features a convex cutting edge stropped razor sharp. It’s big enough for any North American game. The handle is made from a unique and local bog cherry wood. This wood was buried beneath the Nodaway river valley in southern Iowa for thousands of years, beginning the process of mineralization. The bright cherry burl wood used in the collar of the knife was sourced from a tree in the maker’s back yard, meaning these are two cherry woods, grown locally, several thousand years apart. The guard, spacer, pin and lanyard tube are nickel silver.
